Our guests love our beds. Thick mattresses, plump duvets (in winter!) and Egyptian cotton sheets make all of our rooms the perfect place to relax and unwind.

All of our bathrooms have powerful showers and have complimentary Faith in Nature toiletries.

A custom made 4 poster superking with a luxurious en-suite. Lots of storage and a built in window seat with sunset views. Walpole has an en-suite shower room with rain shower.

Palm

Palm is bright and airy with a huge superking bed and original Victorian fireplace. With a luxurious bathroom across the hall, you can relax in the roll-top bath after a day seeing the sights.

Botany

Botany is our boudoir, with dark ceiling and classic wooden window shutters, a comfy king size bed and risque art on the walls. Botany has a private modern shower room located down the hall from the room.

Ady and Sam were extremely hospitable. We felt very welcome and could relax. Good location. Near to multiple breakfast and dinner spots. Clean and a great place to be. Very comfortable bed and soft sheets.

Had a fantastic stay at The Hopewell! Ady and Sam are wonderful hosts; warm, welcoming, and full of great recommendations around Thanet. The house is beautifully decorated, spotless, and the bed is incredibly comfortable. Perfect location, just a short walk from Margate’s highlights. Highly recommended!

Ady & Sam were wonderful hosts! Their house is perfectly located, within walking distance of the old town, restaurants and a much quieter shore than the beach right at the entrance to Margate. They had fantastic recommendations for food and drink, and Ady’s suggestion to walk to Botany Bay and then back along the sand at low tide was the highlight of our weekend. Our room was very large, with tons of closet space and a nice window seat. The shower was spacious, the whole place was very clean, and the bed was comfortable. We’ll definitely reach out to Ady & Sam next time we visit Margate, and not just because I miss their cats (who were very friendly but also totally out of the way, if you happen to not like cats)

This beautifully decorated, comfortable guesthouse is a 15-minute walk from the main attractions in Margate, with several things such as the amazing Shell Grotto and the Walpole Bay tidal pool much closer. We stayed in Palm, which is an enormous bedroom with a private bathroom down the corridor. The bed was gigantic and very comfortable. The entire house is spacious, meticulously clean, and has the feel of a 5* hotel. Ady and Sam are very gracious and knowledgeable hosts, allowing you the use of the kitchen and giving excellent recommendations of things to see and do. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Our Home

We welcome you to our home in Margate where we host guests all year round.

Our beautifully decorated Victorian house has all you need for a short stay in town.

We provide accommodation on a room only basis. There are variety of places nearby for breakfast, brunch and eating and drinking.

This is our home and not a purpose built hotel and as such we don't have soundproofing between the rooms. We ask that guests be mindful of this when returning home late.

Located just off Northdown Road, Cliftonville, voted 8th coolest neighbourhood in 2022 and in the top coolest streets 2025, according to Time Out!

We provide information on the local area including our recommendations for things to do across town, from eating and drinking to sights to visit – you’ll find all this information the noticeboard in our hallway.

It can be very busy in town over summer so we recommend booking restaurants in advance to avoid disappointment. Contact us after you make your booking for specific recommendations.

On arrival, we provide a local map and can provide personalised guidance on how to spend your time in Margate if desired.
 
We provide beach towels and picnic blankets for you to use when venturing out and about.
 
 

Your hosts, Ady & Sam, have a wealth of knowledge on Margate, Thanet and beyond. There’s something always going on in Britain’s oldest seaside resort!

Around 10 minutes walk from Hopewell, you will find the UKs largest tidal pool. Swim in beautiful surroundings whatever the tide.

Our Location

Hopewell is located in the heart of Cliftonville, on Madeira road, a quiet residential street.  hopewell is a short walk from the shops, bars and restaurants of Northdown Road and around 10 minutes walk to Margate Old Town.

Margate is buzzing vibrant town with so much to see and do, whatever the time of year.

Cliftonville was voted the 8th ‘Coolest’ neighbourhood in the world in a 2025 article, so come and see what all the fuss is about!

We are 5 mins drive from the centre of Margate.  Free parking is available on the street outside our house.

By Train

Margate train station is 5 minutes in a taxi or approximatly 20 minutes walk. Fast direct trains to London leave from Margate every hour.
